I just want you here tonight,
holding on to me so tight
What more can I do?
Baby, all I want for Christmas is you.
Apart from the obvious friends, family, festivities, fun and of course, food, one of my other favorite things about the holidays is the films. So I thought I’d share what will be keeping me busy this month as I count down the days to a brand new year:
Holiday Watch List
1. Elf- a tradition of me and my sisters on Christmas day. New York, Zooey Deschanel, and Baby, It’s Cold Outside all wrapped into one- who could ask for more?!
2. Home Alone- whichever of the four you prefer since they’re all basically the same.
3. The Holiday- Jude Law. ‘Nuff said.
4. Miracle on 34th Street- The version with Mara Wilson because who doesn’t love Matilda
5. The Grinch- live action version
6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas- animated version
7. Four Christmases- can’t help adoring Reese Witherspoon flicks
8. It’s a Wonderful Life- classic.
9. A Christmas Carol- just a reminder not be a scrooge!
10. Twas the Night- In case you don’t remember this one, it’s one of those made for TV Disney Channel originals. Available on Youtube.
11. New Year’s Eve- I know most people are growing tired of the love story collage type thing (Love Actually, Valentine’s Day, He’s Just Not That Into You) but who can resist a star-studded cast, especially when it includes the yummy Zac Efron?
12. A Charlie Brown Christmas- never actually seen this one but I added it to the list this year
Some of the Best TV show Christmas Specials
1. A Very (Glee) Christmas
2. Ludachristmas (30 Rock)
3. Undeck the Halls (Modern Family)
4. Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas (Community)
5. The One With All the Christmases (Friends)
- not actually just one episode. Seasons 1 through 9 all have one.
6. Christmas Who? (Spongebob Squarepants)
And lastly, a few good holiday reads
1. The Gift by Cecelia Ahern- for anyone who finds themselves neglecting their loved ones
2. Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan & Rachel Cohn- for anyone who finds themselves neglected by their loved ones
3. The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry- for anyone.
